The daughter of a man recently murdered in Silay City recently returned home and urged the suspected killer to confess to police.
Mary Grace Padua, daughter of 63-year-old Antonio Padua, who was murdered alongside another daughter, 7-year-old April Rean, earlier this week, visited the Silay City Police Station to visit the suspect, Arnel Aguilar, and demanded to know why he committed the crime.
The younger Padua, who currently works and resides in Metro Manila, said she last saw her father on New Year’s Day when he visited her.
Aguilar, meanwhile, maintained his innocence, claiming he did not commit the murders and blamed the incident was made up by Rogelia Landao, the elder Padua’s live-in partner.
Despite Aguilar’s claims, Silay City police chief, Police Superintendent Noel Polines, said they filed two counts of murder against him, while Landao faces parricide charges.
Polines said they are not closing the case yet as investigations will continue, adding there is possibility a third suspect might have been involved.
Last Tuesday, the elder Padua and his daughter were reportedly stabbed to death and set on fire by Aguilar.
The altercation was said to have erupted after the father refused to give P16,000 to Aguilar and Landao./DGB, WDJ
