The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) did not record any major or notable incidents during the recent Holy Week observance.
In a radio interview, BCPO director, Police Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, said the observance was generally peaceful.
Ebreo said the closure of malls and major shopping centers during Good Friday helped with their operational plans, pointing out, cops initially assigned to malls were relocated to transport terminals and churches to augment existing police deployments.
Churchgoers were also orderly, and traffic along major thoroughfares was mostly manageable.
Ebreo also lauded the Bacolod Indian Sikh Community, who provided free drinking water to churchgoers at the San Sebastian Cathedral during Good Friday services.
Despite the Holy Week observance, Ebreo said it was business as usual for the BCPO and they conducted several anti-drug operations, which resulted in the arrest of a high-value drug suspect and several other drug suspects, as well as confiscating hundreds of thousands of pesos worth of illegal drugs./DGB, WDJ
