Seven radio personalities were recognized during the Tingog kag Handurawan Awards, which took place last month at the SMX Convention Center at SM City Bacolod as part of the World Radio Day observance.

RMN-DYHB picked up four awards with Jemlo Victosa taking Best Reporter, Elna Dela Cruz winning Best Female Drama Talent, Gerard Andrade recognized for Office Administration and Management, and Ranel Bagonoc earning honors for Technical and Engineering.

Bombo Radyo personalities Jaz de Jesus Madrigal and Joemarie Regalado won Best Radio Host and Best Male Drama Talent, respectively; while Rex Cantong of Aksyon Radyo won Best Anchorman.

Among radio programs, “Ini ang Akon Problema” won Best Radio Drama, “Maria Labo, Aswang” won Icon of Radio (Negros Occidental) and “Ini ang Akon Kabuhi” of Bombo Radyo was given the Special Citation for Drama.

“One of the compelling reasons why we have to celebrate the World Radio Day is because, even with the advent of social media, it cannot be denied that radio has played a big, big role in our day-to-day lives,” said Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who led the distribution of the awards, alongside former Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP) Negros Occidental chair Serafin Plotria, Jr.

In addition to the awards, the oath of office was administered for new officers of the KBP-Negros Occidental./WDJ
