The Kalibo Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) recently called on passengers to observe regulations and check-in procedures amid ongoing passengers congestion at Kalibo International Airport, which is one of two airports that serves popular resort destination Boracay.

Aviation officials urged passengers to arrive at the airport three hours before their departure.

They also attributed the congestion to several new routes introduced in the last quarter of 2017.

Currently, among international destinations, the airport provides service to Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, among others.

Last November, the Aklan provincial government conducted a consultation with local residents about a proposed expansion of the airport, which would entail the construction of a new terminal and apron, the part of the runway where aircraft is parked./PLL, WDJ
