During the Electric Cooperative Communicators’ Summit, an event hosted by the National Electrification Administration (NEA) in Quezon City last month that gathered 255 information officers and department managers from electric cooperatives nationwide, Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ceneco) Member-Consumers Integrated Services Division (MCISD) chief Roel Venus was elected president of the newly-formed League of Electric Cooperatives Information and Communications Officers Nationwide (Lexicon).
The group intends to function as a media arm for electric cooperatives.
“It will be molded into a talent pool of writers, speakers, broadcasters, and content generators, for and on behalf of the electric cooperative and member-consumer-owner partnership,” Venus explained.
The summit sought to introduce new NEA communications policies, which plan on promoting rural electrification programs and maximizing use of both traditional and new media.
NEA Administrator Edgardo Masongsong later met with the Lexicon officers, who also began discussions on future programs and projects./PLL, WDj
