The New People’s Army (NPA) Leonardo Panaligan Command denied being behind the shooting of a home at Sitio Upper Mamballo, Barangay Quintin Remo in Moises Padilla last week.

In a statement released by command spokesperson Ka Anne Jacinto, she said the allegations are not true as they do not have any records of a Rene Saludares, who was initially wounded in the incident and later died at the hospital.

Jacinto believes the incident was conducted by an organized group, intending to spread fear in the area and, at the same time, cover-up to what is really happening in the town.

Last week, three armed men wearing military uniforms and bonnets strafed the house of Saludares, killing 18-year-old Elnica Arroz, a senior high student of the Guinpanaan National High School-Mamballo Extension Campus.

Saludares, meanwhile, was sent to a hospital in Bacolod City after the incident, although he passed away on Sunday evening.

Moises Padilla municipal police are still investigating the incident, initially believing the attack was perpetrated by the rebels as the area was identified as an “NPA infested area.”/DGB, WDJ
