Based on a recent report by the Solid Waste Enforcers and Educators Team, nine Bacolod City barangays were cited in violation of the city’s waste segregation order.
The group identified Barangays 1, 6, 12, 24, 39, 40, Banago, Mandalagan, and Mansilingan as the noncompliant neighborhoods.
Last week, Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, who chairs the Solid Waste Action Team, revealed five percent of Bacolod City was following the order, despite the ‘No Segregation, No Collection’ policy.
The vice mayor said said he will convene a conference with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau to discuss possible sanctions.
Barangays 8, 13, 38, Taculing, Villamonte, and Singcang Airport were also previously named as violators of the waste segregation order./NC, WDJ
