After earlier brushing aside political talk regarding the ongoing shift towards a federal form of government, Kabankalan City Mayor Isidro Zayco reiterated his intentions to retire after his terms ends in 2019.
“I want to enjoy the remaining years of my life,” he said.
The mayor said he is being encouraged to run for governor.
“I have spent 31 years of my life in politics, 13 years in the provincial government and 18 years as mayor of Kabankalan City,” Zayco said. “I want to rest from politics, I have no more political plans.”
He previously served as a provincial board member and vice governor.
Zayco also served as governor after the passing of then-Negros Occidental Governor Joseph G. Marañon, the brother of incumbent Governor Alfredo Marañon. Jr./DGB, WDJ
