The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) began enforcing a gun ban yesterday, January 21, which will run through Saturday, January 27, as part of the observance of the annual Dinagyang Festival, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year

Festival highlights are scheduled to take place from January 26 to 28.

According to ICPO director, Police Senior Superintendent Henry Biñas, only police, soldiers, and members of the Philippine Coast Guard are permitted to carry firearms, which is intended to deter criminal activity during the festival.

Checkpoints will also be implemented throughout the city./WDJ
