A colorum tricycle driver was arrested after attempting to elude a police checkpoint at the Hermilinda Homes Subdivision in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, Thursday morning.
Police identified the suspect as 43-year-old Philip Olac, a resident of the said subdivision.
Officers from Police Station 7 (PS7) said they were conducting a routine checkpoint when they spotted Olac acting suspiciously. After signalling the suspect to stop his vehicle, he turned around and fled.
After his tricycle flipped over, Olac tried wrestling with the apprehending officer, identified as Police Officer 2 (PO2) Gerwin Catolico, who was wounded in the scuffle.
The tricycle driver was eventually arrested and brought to PS7.
Olac is being held for resisting arrest, assault, and in violation of the city’s anti-colorum ordinance after his tricycle was found to be without a required city sticker, body sticker, and official receipt-certificate of registration for his vehicle./DGB, WDJ
