A police officer was stabbed and accused his male friend of sexual assault, resulting in the latter’s arrest yesterday, following an incident that occurred when the two checked into a lodging house after a night of drinking.

The Iloilo City Police Office identified the suspect as 29-year-old Edwin Pineda, Jr., a resident of Barangay Lopez Jaena Sur in the city’s La Paz district. However, the name of the police officer, who reportedly was a friend of the suspect, has been withheld.

According to the cop, after a night of drinks on Thursday night, the two checked into a lodging house, where the accuser claims he was woken up by Pineda unzipping his pants. The suspect was pushed away, who responded by stabbing the police officer in the chest with a blade.

The accuser maintained there were no intentions when the two decided to check into the lodging house./WDJ
