The Iloilo City Hall Press Corps (ICHPC) conducts an annual gift-giving project where, yesterday, 50 chairs were donated to the female dormitory of the Iloilo City District Jail.
“It is our duty to make [inmates] feel that, while they are in journey or battling the cases, they are not alone,” said ICHPC President Runelyn Jamolo. “Members of the media will always be here to encourage them.”
“By giving the inmates even just a small gift, we hope that they will be happy,” she added.
Last year, the organization donated 20 chairs and an electric fan to the facility.
The dormitory currently houses 223 inmates.
The project has been ongoing since 2001 and conducted in coordination with SM City Iloilo, Red Cross Iloilo, and the Iloilo City government./PLL, WDJ
