Iloilo City was recognized yesterday as ‘Best Performing City’ during the 2017 Excellence in Local Governance (Excell) Awards, a recognition designated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region VI (DILG-6), which took place at the Iloilo Convention Center.
The city also won the award last year.
“This is a manifestation that Iloilo City has been consistently excellent and outstanding in terms of administrative, social, economic, and environmental governance,” said Mayor Jose Espinosa III. “[The] Iloilo City Government will continue to do its best.”
The city was named champion for environmental governance, while being cited for customer service and frontline service provision, early childhood education, labor and employment, and disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.
Iloilo City was also named runner-up for administrative governance, social governance, and economic governance.
Now on its 10th year, Excell has recognized the best managed local governments in the region that demonstrate the best practices, achievements and innovations in governance, administration, social services, economic development, environmental management, and local legislation./WDJ
