Distrito: Bacolodnons are fond of watching sporting events

Bacolod City Councilor Caesar Distrito announced during a recent hearing regarding the proposed 2018 city budget, he wants to double the city budget for sports, from P2.4 million to P5 million.

“The budget for sports should be doubled in order for the city government to support [our] delegates and athletes,” he explained. “Bacolodnons are fond of watching [sporting] events and it is high time for the city to allocate funds to promote such activities.”

The city official noted, he would like to see year-round programs devoted to basketball, volleyball, football, and chess.

The proposed city budget is P2.25 billion.
