The Indian community of Bacolod City invited local residents to join their celebration of Diwali, an annual celebration in India, which is set to begin tomorrow, November 8, and run until November 12.
Malkit Singh, president of the Punjabi Khalsa Diwan, a local Indian group, explained Diwali is known as the “Festival of Lights” and, noted, Bacolod City is the only locality in the country with an ordinance recognizing the observance of Diwali.
The celebration will showcase Indian culture with events going on at the Bacolod Public Plaza, Robinsons Place Bacolod, and SM City Bacolod.
Among the events include a Yoga, Ayurveda, and Holistic Healing Session at SM City on November 9; and a screening of Bollywood movies at Robinsons Place Bacolod on November 12.
According to Singh, there are around 400 members of the Indian community in Negros Occidental./WDJ
