Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) director, Police Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, yesterday ordered the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to implement a “no plate, no travel” policy for motorists during the remainder of the ongoing MassKara Festival.
BCPO Police Community Relations (PCR) head, Police Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, said, as part of the security protocols and ensuring public safety, they will begin intercepting vehicles without license plates, those suspected of not having a driver’s license, along with those lacking official receipts or a certificate of registration for their vehicles.
Vargas said Binag also ordered all vehicles that lack fully functioning signal lights and headlights, as well as motorcycle drivers operating without wearing a safety helmet, to be stopped by police.
Violators will be issued citation tickets and their vehicles may be impounded.
She stated, in order to avoid any delays when their vehicles are stopped, motorists should show all necessary documents to police immediately.
Vargas added, the public should remain vigilant and report any suspicious-looking individuals.
For further inquiries, the public can contact BCPO hotline numbers at 0929-197-4268 and 0945-394-9749.
There are currently 4,365 combined police, army, and anti-crime volunteers who are overseeing the security of the MassKara Festival and the upcoming visit of President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday./DGB, WDJ
