A wanted robber was arrested by police after tracking down his whereabouts at the East Bloc, Villa Angela in Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City, Saturday.

Police identified the suspect as Joseph ‘Jojo’ Belaong, a resident of Purok Aning, Barangay Pahanocoy in the said city.

In a report by Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod, Senior Police Officer 1 (SPO1) Aries Escarda of Police Station 4 (PS4) said Belaong tried to fight off the cops during the arrest.

When police managed to cuff Belaong, they recovered a toy gun that resembled a 9mm pistol and a motorcycle.

Escarda said the items recovered are believed to have been used by Belaong during robbery incidents.

After his arrest, one of the suspect’s victims, identified as 32-year-old Reneboy Ong, travelled to PS4 and positively identified Belaong as the person who robbed him in Barangay Handumanan last week.

Belaong is presently detained at PS4 over robbery charges./DGB, WDJ
