The image of the Virgin Mary of Simala, or the Miraculous Mama Mary of Lindogon, will arrive in Bacolod City on October 23 for a five-day visit.
According to San Antonio Abad Parish priest, Monsignor Victorino Rivas, the image will arrive at the San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish Church in Talisay City at 3:00 p.m., where it will be later transferred to the San Antonio Abad Parish, located along Lacson Extension in Barangay Taculing.
The image will later be moved on October 25 to the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Shrine, or the Redemptorist Church, located along BS Aquino drive; and then to the San Sebastian Cathedral on October 26.
The image returns to Cebu the following day.
Based on eyewitness accounts, the image was said to have shed tears in 1998 after residents of Sibonga, Cebu were infected with dengue fever. A monk of the Simala Shrine, located in the municipality, requested local parish priests to lead a nine-day rosary prayer walk to ask for the Virgin’s intercession.
Those suffering from ailments or are terminally ill travel to the shrine on pilgrimage./WDJ
