Philippine national team and Ceres-Negros FC midfielder Manuel Ott was ruled out of tonight’s clash with Yemen at the Saoud bin Abdulrahman Stadium in Al Wakrah, Qatar in the ongoing 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualification round.
According to a Twitter post, the German-born midfielder said he will be out for six weeks due to an injury to his medial collateral ligament (MCL), which refers to tissue that runs down the inner part of the knee from the thighbone.
According to national team coach Thomas Dooley, Ott’s position may be filled by fellow Ceres FC midfielder Kevin Ingreso or Global Cebu FC midfielder Paul Mulders.
The Philippine national team, or the Azkals, are coming off a 2-2 draw against Yemen, which took place last month at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
Currently, the Azkals lead their group with seven points, as Yemen sits in second place with five./WDJ
