The body of a seven-year-old boy was found inside a bag left in the backyard of his home in Barangay Mabigo, Canlaon City, Wednesday afternoon.
Police have not revealed the identity of the fatality, but confirmed he was found at his place of residence.
They also refused to name the victim’s mother, a separated mother of two who recently returned home from working overseas, and the prime suspect in the case.
According to Canlaon City Police Station-Women and Children’s Protection Desk lead investigator, Police Officer 2 (PO2) Jennelyn Cobere, the body was found with his hands tied with a rope, a belt around his neck, and bruises across his body.
The body was discovered by the victim’s grandfather, who had been searching for the boy. The suspect allegedly directed him to the backyard.
Meanwhile, Cobere said the mother reports being angry at the time of the suspected murder and claimed to be unaware of what she was doing.
Police are currently awaiting the results of the autopsy./MIS, WDJ
