Two hospitalized following Toboso hacking incident

Both the victim and assailant of a Wednesday afternoon hacking incident at Sitio Cahumayan, Barangay Gen. Luna, Toboso in Negros Occidental were treated for injuries at a local clinic.
Police identified the victim as 51-year-old Jimmy Hinilo, a resident of the said sitio.
According to a police report, Hinilo was involved in a misunderstanding with the suspect, 52-year-old Jolito Abrea, a resident of Sitio Maaswa in the said barangay, who hacked the victim with a butcher knife.
Despite incurring wounds to his right eye, right forearm, and left arm, Hinilo fought back and struck Abrea with a piece of bamboo, causing a laceration to the assailant’s head.
Both were immediately sent to a town clinic following the incident.
Recovered from the crime scene was a butcher knife, measuring 20 inches from tip to handle.
Abrea is currently under the custody of the Toboso Municipal Police Station./WDJ
