Real estate company Sta. Lucia Realty and Development, Inc. yesterday broke ground on a new lakeside community in Barangay Rizal, Silay City, Negros Occidental, with a goal of marketing to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
According to Eduardo Tirona, president of Orchard Property Marketing Corporation (OPMC), the marketing arm of the real estate company, the costs will appeal to OFWs, along with middle and lower middle class families.
“The property pricing here is cheap,” he stated. “If they buy and stay here, they will feel more at ease.”
The new site, the second such project by Sta. Lucia in Negros Occidental, will be called La Alegria Residential Estates.
The company is also behind the Manville Royale property in Bacolod City.
Tirona said the new project is very different from other subdivisions, highlighting the lake, which local residents will be able to use for aquatic sports and fishing.
“The lake is over five hectares in diameter,” he explained.
The development costs of the property are estimated to be over P500 million, with the project expected to take more than a year and a half.
Meanwhile, Silay City Mayor Mark Golez called the La Alegria “a new inspiration for all Silaynons.”/DGB, WDJ
