The New People’s Army-Leonardo Panaligan Command (NPA-LPC) recently blamed the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) for the death of DepEd division of Guihulngan Administrative Officer Oscar Solania Asildo, Jr., who was gunned down by two unidentified suspects in Barangay Poblacion of the said city, last week.
In a statement by NPA-LPC spokesperson Ka JB Regalado, innocent civilians are now on the receiving end of “revenge” by military and law enforcement, following the death of six Guihulngan City police officers last July.
“Army and PNP officials are so desperate in making the NPA responsible for the deaths of six Guihulngan City policemen,” he insisted.
The NPA-LPC previously claimed responsibility for the deadly ambush, calling it “payback for atrocities committed by the Guihulngan City police.”
Regalado linked suspected former Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPA-ABB) members behind Asildo’s murder.
It was reported earlier this week that DepEd formed a fact-finding team to probe the death of the agency official.
DepEd also urged local officials and law enforcement to investigate the case./DGB, WDJ
