Negrense runners came out victorious in this weekend’s Negros First marathon, with Joel Alcorin of Don Salvador Benedicto winning the men’s division and Jennyln Nobleza taking the women’s side.
Alcorin finished in 3:12:03, ahead of second place John Ray Onifra of Hamtik, Antique and Maclin Sadia of Cadiz City, who came in third place.
Meanwhile, Nobleza finished in 3:37:28, followed by Stephanie Cadosale of Escalante City and Mereeis Ramirez of Tanjay City.
In the Under-20 20K, Jay-ar Pionela of Tanjay City won the men’s division; while Stephanie Soledad of Bago City won the ladies’ category.
Additionally, senior citizens, ranging in age from 60 to 73, also took part, with Roger Lara of Manapla being the oldest contestant.
Shigemi Watanabe of the Organization for Industrial, Spiritual, and Cultural Advancement (OISCA) Training Center of Bago City also participated in the event.
In all, 318 runners took part in the event than spanned from the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol to the Manapla rotunda./WDJ
