Task Force Kasanag (TFK) chairman John Chiong denied allegations his group was behind a letter, supposedly penned by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), disowning Moises Padilla Mayor Magdaleno Peña as a consultant.
In a local radio interview yesterday, Chiong denied any role in the said letter, which is currently circulating on social media, but did admit to forwarding a separate letter to PDEA Director Isidro Lapeña questioning the legality of the appointment.
“I’m still waiting for the official word coming from Lapeña,” he said.
He also appealed to the public to stop circulating the letter until he receives official word from the PDEA.
Chiong insisted he does not have a grudge against the mayor and said, “He shouldn’t worry about anything.”
Meanwhile, in an interview with Peña following the report, the mayor clarified he is still a consultant for the PDEA in Negros Occidental.
He, however, refused to comment on the said letter, saying he did not want to dignify it any further./WDJ
