Abang Lingkod Party-list Rep. Stephen Paduano revealed a House of Representatives caucus is pushing for the postponement of the upcoming barangay elections, scheduled for October 2017, and requesting they be rescheduled for May 2018.
“I’m sure congress will hasten the deliberation and pass for the postponement because of the consensus of the majority,” he said.
The party-list representative also noted, a majority of congress supports the holdover of incumbent officials.
Meanwhile, Bacolod City Liga ng mga Barangay President and Barangay Tangub Captain Noli Villarosa said the Senate would begin hearings tomorrow on the issue, to be led by Senator Vicente Sotto III.
However, Sotto filed a separate bill seeking to reschedule the elections to October 2018./WDJ
