Around P1 million worth of belongings were destroyed after a fire severely damaged the house of a retired couple at Carmela Valley Homes Subdivision, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, Wednesday afternoon.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) identified the owner of the house as Melinia Navarro, a retired teacher and resident of the said city.
BFP arson investigator, Senior Fire Officer 2 (SFO2) Marvy June Tolosa, said, based on their initial probe, a plugged-in fan in the master bedroom caused the blaze.
Tolosa said the blaze severely damaged Navarro’s residence and burned down most of the wooden parts of the structure.
Among the belongings lost to the fire were the couple’s jewelry collection./WDJ
