Following the opening of Sipalay City Airport yesterday, which will begin service to Iloilo City and Cebu City, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) allocated P30 million for the construction of a runway for Kabankalan City Airport.
According to Kabankalan City Mayor Isidro Zayco, a P30 million counterpart allocation has also been set aside by both the city government and Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr.
Additionally, Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri said he would provide an additional P10 million for the airport’s main terminal.
Zayco said DOTr technical personnel will prepare a program of work after conducting a survey of the airport.
“The completion of the airport will depend on the program of the work of the DOTr,” he explained./WDJ
