Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog appealed to officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and other law enforcement agencies to consolidate their figures and release the “real” data on the illegal drug trade in his city.
President Rodrigo Duterte coined the province of Iloilo as the most “shabulized” last year, after naming several local government officials and other personalities from the province with alleged links to the illegal drug trade.
“If only the president knew the truth, then [he] can stop labeling us,” the mayor insisted.
According to data from the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), less than one percent of the city’s population is engaged in illegal drugs, with around 3,180 drug users and dealers having previously surrendered under the PNP’s Oplan Tokhang.
Meanwhile, PDEA-Region VI reports there have been no shabu laboratories discovered in Iloilo./WDJ
