GPS used to track down snatcher in Brgy. 14

A suspected snatcher was caught after his whereabouts were traced to Purok Magsaysay, Barangay 14, Bacolod City using a global positioning system (GPS), last Tuesday.

Police identified the victim as 20-year-old Emariz Panawgaw, a resident of Florenceville Subdivision, Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City.

Police Station 1 (PS1) commander, Police Senior Inspector Leo Estopa, said Panawgaw and a friend were on their way home when the suspect, identified as Nikki Osain, snatched the victim’s mobile phone worth P20,000.

Panawgaw remotely activated the GPS tracking system of his phone and notified police of the incident.

A follow-up operation was organized and Osain was arrested inside his home a few hours later.

Cops recovered the stolen mobile phone.
