Sipalay City driver arrested for jai-alai

A driver in Sipalay City was arrested by police after he was caught soliciting money for the illegal numbers game jai-alai, late Monday evening.

Police identified the suspect as 37-year-old Godfrey Gandecila, a resident of Purok 1, Barangay 5 in the said city.

Sipalay City police chief, Police Chief Inspector Romeo Vargas, said they were conducting an anti-illegal gambling operation in Barangay 5 when they spotted Gandecila allegedly collecting gambling money from local residents.

Cops recovered several jai-alai tipsters, gambling proceeds amounting to P260, and a piece of paper with three number combinations.

Gandecila faces illegal gambling charges and is detained at the Sipalay City Police Station./DGB, WDJ
