Following last week’s 6.5-magnitude earthquake that struck Leyte, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) head Zeaphard Caelian reported there has been no movement in the Negros fault system.
He noted, there are several fault lines throughout the region, including those located near Kabankalan City, Ilog, Candoni, Isabela, and Mabinay; all of which are being closely monitored by the PDRRMO and Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Caelian also said trainings are regularly carried out among provincial employees.
The PDRRMO head added, despite the province lacks rescue and disaster equipment, the government is ready to respond to emergencies.
Earlier this week, a 5.8-magnitude aftershock was felt in Negros, with readings picked up in Cadiz City and Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental./WDJ
