After a confidential memorandum regarding the New People’s Army (NPA) was leaked to local media, Police Regional Office-18 (PRO-18) ordered an investigation into the matter.
The memo listed NPA target across the region, including Moises Padilla Mayor Magdaleno Peña.
The mayor previously responded, saying he was not intimidated, but questioned why he was the only government official on the said list.
According to PRO-18 spokesperson, Police Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, PRO-18 director, Police Chief Superintendent Edmund Gonzales, issued a stern warning to police chiefs throughout the region regarding leaking confidential material.
She noted, those responsible for leaks could face administrative charges.
Several newspaper outlets in Bacolod City have since published information from the memo./WDJ
