With interviews for potential Police Regional Office-18 (PRO-18) police officers underway, PRO-18 spokesperson, Police Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, said the department is looking to hire 700 new officers by the end of the year.
She noted there are currently 509 applicants.
Vargas explained candidates must complete an application and pass a screening process before becoming a “Candidate Police Officer 1 (PO1),” wherein they will take part in a six-month basic training course, followed by a six-month internship and scout training at police stations across the Negros Island Region (NIR).
Once completed, she said, the new PO1s are assigned to a post and must serve a minimum of five years before they can request reassignment./WDJ
