Yanson eyes future Azkals from NOFA grassroots tourney

Football has consistently been growing in Negros Occidental.
And on its second year, the Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA) 2017 12 and Under Invitational Cup is expected to bring the best players in the age-group.
“Our purpose here is to develop players who will soon be the next Azkals. Moreover, we are trying to reach out to other provinces in the country to be part of this program,” NOFA president Ricky Yanson said.
For this year, 18 teams from across the country have converged in Negros Occidental for this 5-day event.
In yesterday’s matches in Bracket A, Don Bosco-Cebu demolished San Carlos City FC, 6-1; IPagasa FC dumped Claret FC, 4-1; and Zandifa blanked Bayawan City FC, 2-0.
In Bracket B, Dynamic FC routed MARFA-South Cotabato, 4-1; One La Salle survived Barotac Nuevo, 2-1; and Don Bosco Technical Institute-Victorias triumphed over Southbridge, 6-2.
And, in Bracket C, Springdale Titans of Cebu defeated Davao FA, 4-1; Green Global stunned Kakisa FC, 8-nil; and Ateneo de Manila evened Jaro FC, 2-2./WDJ
