An illegal ‘swertres’ operator was arrested by members of the Sibulan Municipal Police Station, yesterday morning at the airport area, Barangay Agan-an, Sibulan, Negros Oriental.
Police identified the suspect as 56-year-old Expedito Jumawan Baroro, a resident of Colon Extension, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
Sibulan town police chief, Senior Inspector Nelson Lamoco, said they were conducting a routine patrol in the area when they spotted Baroro in the act of allegedly soliciting money for “Swertres,” an illegal numbers game.
Police recovered a tally sheet containing three-digit number combinations, and suspected gambling money amounting to P170. Baroro is facing illegal gambling charges, and is detained at the Sibulan Municipal Police Station./WDJ
