At least one person was confirmed dead, while 11 others were seriously injured, following a freak glass accident near a mosque located at Bangga Adela, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, yesterday morning.
Authorities identified the fatality as Victor Lasanas, a security guard at a nearby warehouse in the said barangay.
Based on a statement made by Oma Betita, the local imam, the glass sheets, measuring around 7×13, were imported from Abu Dhabi and were supposed to be sold in the area.
Lasanas and several other workers were trying to get the glass sheets into a warehouse from a container van, when a truck passed by the area. The vibrations made by the truck caused the workers to lose their grip, resulting in the sheets smashing onto several workers.
Local rescuers rushed the victims to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), where Lasanas was later declared dead on arrival by hospital staff.
Members of Police Station 7 (PS7) are currently investigating the incident./WDJ
