An 18-year-old was arrested by Cauayan police after he tried to evade a checkpoint at Purok 4, Barangay Elihan, Cauayan, Negros Occidental, Monday afternoon.
Police identified the suspect as Christian Trinidad, a resident of the said barangay.
The Cauayan Municipal Police Station said they were conducting a checkpoint in the area, as part of their police visibility operations, when they spotted Trinidad.
Instead of going through the cops, however, Trinidad allegedly ran away, prompting a chase, which ultimately led to his arrest.
Police immediately frisked Trinidad and discovered one magazine for a 9mm pistol with four live units of ammunition.
Trinidad is facing charges of illegal possession of ammunition, and is detained at the Cauayan Municipal Police Station./WDJ
