Following the Negros Island Region (NIR) finishing fourth in the medal count at the 2017 Palarong Pambansa, accumulating a total of 26 gold, 27 silver, and 36 bronze medals, Department of Education-NIR (DepEd-NIR) Director, Dr. Gilbert Sadsad, offered his congratulations to the local athletes.
“Our NIR athletes performed well,” he said. “Congratulations to the winners.”
“For those who failed to win, I know you’ve done your best,” the DepEd official added. “There is always a next time.”
Meanwhile, NIR was also named the Cleanest, Greenest, and Eco-Friendliest Delegation; Most Organized; and the Best Billeting Quarter.
They also took third place in Most Disciplined Team.
The National Capital Region (NCR) finished the tournament with a tremendous haul of 98 gold, 66 silver, and 45 bronze medals. Calabarzon finished in second place, followed by the Western Visayas./WDJ
