EB Magalona Mayor Marvin Malacon said yesterday, despite Coca-Cola being a sponsor of the town’s ongoing Ugyonan Festival, which runs until May 1, he is demanding a ban of the beverage manufacturer’s products throughout all of Negros Occidental.
“I will ask the municipal council to pass a resolution supporting the boycott of Coca-Cola products in the province,” he declared. “I am for the boycott as its impact affects our farmers.”
Malacon added Coca-Cola’s regional sales manager is from EB Magalona.
Coca-Cola products are currently banned at the Panaad sa Negros Festival, which is currently taking place in Bacolod City, where organizers have deployed a monitoring team to ensure Coca-Cola products are kept clear of event site.
Isabela, Hinigaran, La Carlota City, and Murcia have also imposed boycotts during their respective festivals./WDJ
