As of the third day of the 2017 Palarong Pambansa, the National Capital Region (NCR) currently leads the medal count with 34 gold, 20 silver, and eight bronze medals.
The Western Visayas sit a distant second with five gold, five silver, and five bronze medals; followed by the Negros Island Region (NIR) with five gold, five silver, and three bronze medals.
Last year, NIR finished in sixth place, with a total haul of 21 gold, 28 silver, and 39 bronze medals./WDJ
