A motorcyclist was killed, while his passenger was slightly injured, following a hit-and-run incident along Buri Road, Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City, early Saturday morning.
Police identified the fatality as 22-year-old Hernanie Mondia of Purok Tonggoy in the said barangay; while 25-year-old Reymund Abello, also a resident of the said barangay, was injured.
Police Station 3 (PS3) traffic investigator, Police Officer 3 (PO3) Eliseo Adraneda, said while the two victims were traveling along Buri road, their motorcycle was reportedly bumped by a Toyota Vios, which ran over Mondia.
Instead of stopping to provide assistance, however, the driver of the Vios fled the area, leaving both victims lying in the road.
Bystanders and concerned motorists rushed both victims to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), where Mondia was declared dead on arrival by hospital staff.
Adraneda, meanwhile, said one of the bystanders managed to get the plate number of the Vios, but refused to divulge the information, as he still needs to forward the plates to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) for verification./WDJ
