The family of former Berya drug group member Ricky Serenio expressed worries following the death of his brother in Barangay Singcang-Airport, last week.
Serenio’s mother, Gina, said her son Wilmar’s death was connected to Ricky’s revelations linking several high profile individuals in Negros Occidental to the Berya drug group.
The drug suspect’s mother expressed a feeling of unease over her family’s safety and blamed herself for not stopping her son from engaging in illegal drugs, claiming Wilmar’s death could have been avoided.
She further requested the assistance of Police Station 8 (PS8), saying they have been receiving death threats since January, when the revelations were made public.
Earlier last week, Wilmar was gunned down while walking in Purok Sampaguita 1 in the said barangay.
Ricky, meanwhile, accused Efren Billanes as one of the suspects, claiming it was a clear threat against him.
Billanes has since denied involvement, claiming Serenio has a grudge against him because he tipped off police to his whereabouts in Talisay City, which led to his arrest./WDJ
