A farm laborer surrendered to Tayasan town police after he allegedly hacked his neighbor in Barangay Numnum, Tayasan, Negros Oriental, Monday afternoon.
Police identified the victim as 50-year-old Abdulio Legato, a resident of the said barangay.
Investigators from the Tayasan police said the suspect, identified as 63-year-old Maximo Quillano, was plowing his field when Legato arrived and allegedly started teasing him.
The two engaged in a heated argument.
Legato punched the suspect in the face, while Quillano pulled out his bolo and hacked the victim several times.
The victim was later rushed to the Dumaguete City Provincial Hospital after incurring several hack wounds on his body.
Quillano, meanwhile, may face assault charges./WDJ
