During a special meeting of the City Peace and Order Council (CPOC), which was attended by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Jesus Hinlo, Jr., Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) head Police Superintendent LuisitoAcebuche delivered a report on the results of recently-implemented ordinances requiring city motorcyclists to wear helmets and discouraging pedestrians from jaywalking.
According to BTAO, a total of P273,500 were collected from violations of the “No Helmet, No Travel” policy; while fines from jaywalkers totaled P92,700, stemming from 1,051 violators.
124 were also subject to community service after being unable to provide the P100 first offense fine.
Meanwhile, between March 28 and April 10, a total of 185 motorcycles were impounded./WDJ
