100 families displaced after Easter Sunday fire in Iloilo City

An early Sunday morning fire in Barangay Lopez Jaena Norte, La Paz, Iloilo City razed 53 homes, injured 11, and displaced 100 families.
According to Senior Fire Officer 1 Rollin Hormina of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Iloilo City (BFP-Iloilo City), the blaze started at 12:50 a.m. and required 15 firetrucks to tackle the fire, which was put out around 6:05 a.m.
Hormina added, authorities are still investigating the cause, which they believe originated from a house owned by Teresita Jaena.
Meanwhile, the Iloilo City Social Welfare and Development Office is providing food packs to the fire victims, who are currently being sheltered at evacuation centers./WDJ
