The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) reported the city’s observance of the Holy Week was generally peaceful. According to BCPO spokesperson, Police Superintendent Noel Polines, they only recorded minimal incidents.
He explained there were no significant incidents, but did record petty crimes such as pickpocketing, wherein all suspects were arrested.
Polines credited their police assistance desks and tourist police assistance desks for their effective personnel deployment.
He added, although Holy Week is over, they will still intensify their mobile patrol in commercial and residential areas, beat patrols, and checkpoint operations.
Meanwhile, on Black Saturday, Negros Occidental was placed under Storm Signal No. 1, after Tropical Depression Crising made landfall over Samar island.
Philippine Coast Guard-Bacolod (PCG-Bacolod) Station Commander, Lieutenant Jimmy Oliver Vingno, immediately stopped all sea trips following the declaration.
The cancellation led to a backlog of passengers stranded at ports, however, by 5:00 p.m. that day, PCG allowed vessels to resume operations after storm signals were lifted for the province./WDJ
