A butcher was reportedly stabbed and shot along San Sebastian Street, Barangay Sum-Ag, Bacolod City, late Saturday night.
Police identified the fatality as Danilo Panganiban, a resident of Barangay Dulao, Bago City.
According to a report by Police Station 9 (PS9) commander, Police Chief Inspector Rollie Pondevilla, Panganiban was preparing to leave after drinking with friends when a green cab, driven by the alleged suspect, identified as Edmar Jamison, stopped.
The suspect shot Panganiban several times, hitting the victim in the neck and right shoulder.
Jamison also allegedly picked up Panganiban’s butcher’s knife and stabbed him in the stomach.
The suspect then got back into his cab and fled the scene.
Meanwhile, an ambulance from La Castellana, which was just passing by the area, picked up the victim and rushed him to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), where he was declared dead on arrival by hospital staff.
Pondevilla added investigators believe Jamison has a personal grudge against Panganiban.
PS9 is still conducting a hot pursuit operation against the suspect./WDJ
