Following the recent dismissal of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Ismael Sueno, three DILG undersecretaries expressed their appreciation for the decision by President Rodrigo Duterte.
In a radio interview, Undersecretary for Public Safety Jesus Hinlo said Sueno’s removal will have a positive effect on the agency.
He added the president based his decision on “strong evidence.”
After being accused by Sueno of being behind the confidential letter claiming he abused his power, alongside DILG undersecretaries John Castriciones and Emily Padilla, Hinlo denied any involvement.
The interior secretary said of the three, “It appears, from the very start, they wanted my head and are out to discredit me.”
“They want somebody else to head the department,” he asserted.
Sueno added he is saddened since the three were his colleagues in the Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte National Executive Coordinating Committee (MRRD-NECC)./WDJ
