The Bacolod City Health Office (CHO) conducted a series of lectures last month in observance of Rabies Awareness Month.
According to the Department of Health (DOH), the highest incidence of animal bites are typically recorded in March. The lectures, meanwhile, meant for students, teachers, and parents, intended to educate pet owners and the community on how to help eradicate rabies.
“Rabies is highly fatal,” the CHO said in a statement. “Once the virus enters the brain and symptoms start to appear, it is irreversible and will only result to death.”
CHO added their Animal Bite Treatment Center offers free vaccination for patients bitten by animals./WDJ
